Removals Shoreditch Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Removals Shoreditch is taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery is a serious crime and a violation of fundamental human rights, and we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our relationships.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Removals Shoreditch operates a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, servitude and human trafficking. This applies to every aspect of our activities, from direct employment and onsite operations to relationships with suppliers, subcontractors and other business partners. We will not knowingly engage with any organisation that is involved in or knowingly facilitates modern slavery in any form.
Our leadership team is responsible for ensuring that this commitment is embedded in our culture and reflected in our decisions, policies and day-to-day behaviours. All employees and representatives of Removals Shoreditch are expected to uphold this policy without exception.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Removals Shoreditch provides removals and related services, including packing, storage and local logistics. Our supply chain includes labour providers, transport and vehicle services, packing material suppliers, storage facilities and other operational partners.
We recognise that certain areas of our supply chain may present a higher risk of labour exploitation, particularly where low-skilled or temporary labour is used or where services are sourced through multiple tiers of subcontractors. We are committed to identifying and addressing these risks through structured due diligence and continuous improvement.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
To support our zero-tolerance approach, we conduct due diligence on existing and potential suppliers and subcontractors. This process includes assessing their policies on modern slavery, reviewing their employment practices where relevant and considering the geographical and sector risks associated with their operations.
We reserve the right to conduct audits of suppliers, either announced or unannounced, to verify compliance with our modern slavery expectations. These audits may include reviewing workforce documentation, inspecting working conditions and speaking with workers where appropriate. Suppliers who fail to meet our standards may be required to implement corrective action plans within defined timescales or risk termination of their contract.
Training, Awareness and Responsibilities
We provide appropriate information and awareness-raising to employees whose roles involve procurement, supplier management or people management. This helps them recognise indicators of modern slavery and understand how to respond to potential concerns. Management at all levels is responsible for ensuring that those reporting to them understand and comply with this statement and our associated policies.
We expect our suppliers to cascade similar standards throughout their own supply chains and to be able to demonstrate, when requested, the steps they are taking to prevent modern slavery.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Removals Shoreditch encourages anyone who has concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices connected to our business to report them without delay. Concerns may relate to our own operations, our workforce or any supplier or subcontractor working with us.
Reports can be made to any manager within the company or escalated to senior management. We will treat all reports seriously, investigate them promptly and, where appropriate, take remedial action. We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises concerns in good faith, whether they are an employee, worker, contractor or external party.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We are committed to continually strengthening our approach to tackling modern slavery. We monitor developments in legislation, guidance and best practice to ensure that our policies and procedures remain effective and proportionate to the risks we face.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually by senior management to assess its effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement. The review considers the outcomes of supplier audits, reported concerns, training effectiveness and any changes in our business or supply chain. Where necessary, we will update our practices and share relevant changes with employees and suppliers.
This statement has been approved by the leadership of Removals Shoreditch and represents our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all aspects of our operations.
